Rabindranath Tagore

was an Indian poet, prose writer, painter, educator, and philosopher. Laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature, the first ever awarded to an Indian. He founded an experimental school in Santiniketan. He was a pacifist and opponent of all violence. He lived from 1861 to 1941.
