Baby You

Baby You is a thirty-four-meter long hot air balloon in the shape of a newborn infant. It symbolizes the power of dreams and the limitlessness of everyone’s possibilities.

TiàWùK

This visual exploration is a journey to another planet. TiàWùK is a planet located in a quite close galaxy to us, it is small compared to the earth and the environmental conditions are extreme but suitable enough for the adaptation of human life.

Mimesis

The classic idea of mimesis is based on the assumption that art mimics reality. Agnieszka Sejud reverses this order so that reality mimics art.

A glimpse at LABA 2022

On the first weekend of September 2022, LABA a free time festival was held in Warsaw’s Jazdów district. We danced, meditated, learned, practiced yoga and good habits together, watched movies, read Przekrój, and admired post-holiday freckles. We invited friends of our magazine, as well as their friends (including the four-legged variety!) and all those who want to do good on a micro and macro scale. There was no shortage of good food and humor. Here is a short summary.

Blind Spot

Blind spot is where one’s ability to see ends. In human anatomy it’s the area where the optic nerve enters the retina making it insensitive to light. In driving, it refers to the surroundings of the vehicle, which cannot be directly seen by the driver. Metaphorically it may describe a lack of understanding and lack of meaning. In the exhibition Blind Spot Ada Zielińska binds all those three aspects together in a series of photographic objects and readymades accompanied by miniature poems written by Sam Riviere.

Devil’s Rib

40 years ago, an escape into Polish wilderness was usually because of being an outlaw, a dissident of the communist regime, or an adventurer. Today, the fatigue of modern life and fears of humanity collapse push humans towards living life closer to nature.

Mujeres de la Tierra

The Covid-19 pandemic has put into perspective that domestic life is a risky scenario for thousands of Mexican women. Five sisters behind the Mujeres de la Tierra (Women of the Land) collective have experienced this violence in their homes and know that if a woman does not have economic autonomy, she will be more limited in separating from her abuser.

The Nature of Things

Humans are the only living beings who are aware of the transcience of life. We are bound to accept this fact with total vulnerability. How can the transient nature of our personality be acknowledged in an individualist society?
